It sounds odd, but the more I immerse myself in the worlds of fashion and food, the more similarities I find – like the impact it makes when unexpected pairings work. Sake with spicy Thai soup. White chocolate and caviar. Cocoa powder over venison. Weird, yes. Tasty, absolutely. Trust me. If you understand the elements of the foods you’re trying to match, you can make some amazing and unexpected combinations!
The same goes for fashion, especially with this year’s Pantone Color of the Year: Emerald. An unexpected pairing I found and really liked was this emerald frock with accenting touches of…purple!
Now isn’t that nice? Come on, admit it – when I said I was mixing emerald and purple before, you had visions of the Joker, right? I really like the pretty accents of purple here, but I prefer an amethyst shade – if I were to do my own take on this combo, it would look more like this:
I love the amethyst touches with this gorgeous wrap dress, and the freshwater pearl jewelry accents are definitely things I would wear! I know – red hair + green + purple could be a scary combination, but I’m living on the edge this year.
